CEMFUEL BLENDING & INCINERATION

Fire Icon in Light Green

When landfill isn't the answer and recycling isn't an option.

Waste that can't be recovered can still be managed responsibly.

Not every waste stream has a straightforward recycling route. For the complex ones, we have solutions that prioritise recovery first and responsible incineration second.

Some industrial waste streams particularly hazardous liquids, contaminated solvents, and mixed chemical waste can't simply be recycled or reused. But that doesn't mean landfill is the right answer. At Environmental Green Group, we operate two advanced routes for these materials: Cemfuel blending and permitted incineration services.

Both routes are designed to extract maximum value from difficult waste while meeting the most stringent environmental and regulatory standards.

Cemfuel Blending

Cemfuel Blending

Turning hazardous liquid waste into alternative fuel.

Cemfuel is the term for alternative fuel produced by blending hazardous liquid waste streams to a specification suitable for use in energy-intensive industrial processes primarily cement kilns, which operate at temperatures high enough to safely destroy hazardous materials while recovering their energy content.

Rather than paying Landfill Tax at £130.75 per tonne to dispose of hazardous liquids, Cemfuel blending converts that waste into a resource that displaces virgin fossil fuel.

It's a genuinely circular outcome: the energy content of your waste is recovered, the hazardous material is safely destroyed, and your Carbon Handprint grows.

What qualifies for Cemfuel blending:

What qualifies for Cemfuel blending:

  • Halogenated and non-halogenated solvents
  • Waste oils and contaminated petroleum products
  • Aqueous and non-aqueous liquid hazardous waste
  • Mixed organic liquid waste streams
  • Process chemicals with significant calorific value

Incineration Services

Responsible incineration for materials that need it.

For hazardous waste that isn't suitable for Cemfuel blending, permitted incineration services provide an environmentally sound and fully compliant disposal route. We work with licensed high-temperature incineration facilities equipped with advanced emissions control technology ensuring that even the most challenging waste is managed in a way that meets or exceeds environmental permit conditions.

Incineration is not our preferred route — we always look for recovery opportunities first. But for materials such as clinical waste, highly toxic substances, or contaminated materials with no viable recovery pathway, it provides a controlled, responsible alternative to landfill.

Types of waste suited to incineration services:

  • Highly toxic or reactive chemical waste
  • Clinical and pharmaceutical waste
  • Pesticide and agrochemical waste
  • Contaminated solid materials
  • Complex mixed hazardous waste streams

The Environmental Case

Recovery over landfill. Every time it's possible.

Both Cemfuel blending and incineration generate verifiable circular outcomes that feed directly into your monthly Carbon Handprint Certificate. Where virgin fossil fuel is displaced by Cemfuel, we calculate the carbon saving. Where incineration produces energy recovery, we document it. Where landfill is avoided, we evidence it.

With Landfill Tax at £130.75 per tonne and rising, these routes also represent a meaningful financial advantage over the default disposal option while delivering better environmental outcomes and full regulatory compliance.
